O chapéu da válvula (frequentemente chamado pastilha da extremidade da haste da válvula) é uma pequena peça metálica cilíndrica em aço de elevada dureza que encaixa diretamente na extremidade superior da haste da válvula. No motor diesel bicilíndrico Kubota das gamas Aixam e Minauto, esta peça funciona como uma zona de proteção: é sobre ela que o balancim atua milhares de vezes por minuto para pressionar a válvula e abrir a câmara de combustão.
